HACIENDA MALLKINI

It is located in the department of Puno, about 2 hours by bus from the town of Pucara. Mallkini is an alpaca breeding ranch, they have at least 3000 acres of land, where they raise over 2000 alpacas, being the largest camelidae raising farm in Peru. The house has a renovated building, showing a traditional livestock farm style. All the installations offer comfort and facilities, they have 6 rooms which have private bathrooms and central heating, lounge with fireplace, dining room, kitchen and a room with balcony offering wonderful views during breakfast and lunch. This farm produces its own electricity using a diesel generator only at night, but they have hot water 24 hours. As the farm is located far away in the middle of the Andes, providing unique landscapes and vast fields of grazing; activities in the property are based on walking and horse-back-riding around, and also learn different aspects and techniques of raising alpacas. The Fundo Mallkini is pioneer in the breeding and genetic study of llamas and alpacas in the region, as well as the preservation of endemic flora and fauna, not allowing hunting on their property and always they try to reintroducing species of endangered fauna.
